Misja pod kołderką / Mission under a duvet
Leci ciągle do przodu.
Wierność i posłuszeństwo Bogu.
Wiem, to trudne, bo lubimy mieć kontrolę. I ja z tą moją kontrolą muszę walczyć.
Mission under a duvet
Have you ever experienced having thousand ideas per minute, which you want to put into practice, but when the time comes, those ideas simply evaporate, because there were too many of them? It often happens to me when it comes to writing posts. I see something or somebody- and I start creating a post in my mind, giving it even a title. However, as I’m on a journey at that time, or busy baking, cleaning or working in ICU, my writing gets postponed. Unfortunately, putting it off causes the idea to vanish and what is left is a blank page… This time I would like to fill this blank page with something very personal...
I’m already in Aswan today after a very long and exhausting journey during which I kept promising myself that I would never travel again… but it is rather certain that there will be more than one occasion when I will sit in an uncomfortable seat, experience some turbulence, drink a mug of strong tea, have a biscuit in an airtight container or that there will be a child stomping behind my back… and I will fly. This is life. Time flies.
To be honest, life on a mission field is hard. I’m not writing it to discourage anyone, but to show that mission shouldn’t be treated as paradise on Earth or a continuous "honeymoon".. Life on a mission field is just the same as the one lead by each one of us. It’s work, expectations, failures, collapses, achievements, joys, crying, laughter, frustration, satisfaction, fulfilment, discouragement… (these emotions and feelings come from my experience). This is because each of us in on a mission, whether it is in Poland, Egypt, Spain or on a small ocean island, the name of which I don’t even know. Our life is a mission directed toward another person. For me, there’s no difference between Egypt or any other country. Each place is equal when it comes to serving another person. However, ministry shouldn’t be a priority. It may become a dangerous trap. Faithfulness and obedience to God is a foundation which helps to go through difficulties in our "paradise", wherever it may be.
There are a lot of challenges awaiting me. Many things got complicated during my absence.Yes, I feel frustration and discouragement. Yes, I would like to cover my head with a pillow, cover myself with a duvet and lock the door, (preferably a double one). This too is all right. Sometimes we need it. Elijah was also running away. God didn’t rebuke him, though. Instead, He told him to get enough sleep and after he "wrapped a duvet around himself", he was told to have hearty lunch in the fresh air and trust that God has everything under His control. Elijah did so and I know that I should do the same. The duvet may be warm and pleasant (although, it would be better to have a cool one in this climate), but it needs to be thrown back. It’s even worthwhile to do so, because then we can experience that God is faithfull in our life and that He can do amazing things with us, if only we trust Him. I’m aware that it’s hard, because we like to be in control. However, our attempt to control everything may lead us to a place, totally different that the one planned by God. Personally, I need to fight with my own wish to control everything.
I like the saying that peace doesn’t mean the absence of struggles and problems, but it is rather God’s presence. Therefore, I wish you God’s peace in the place of your own mission.
